Elden Ring: Key Item Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Elden Ring Key Items are the foundation for unlocking new regions and progressing through the game's many quests.

These unique objects are usually found in high-security chests or given by legendary NPCs and they allow you to cross magic barriers, activate massive elevators, and reach the final challenges of the game.

Essential Progression Keys

Securing these is the only path to moving between the game's massive regions:

• Academy Glintstone Key: Found on a corpse behind the Glintstone Dragon Smarag in Liurnia. It is needed to enter the Raya Lucaria Academy.
• Dectus Medallion (Left & Right): The Left half is at Fort Haight (Limgrave), and the Right half is at Fort Faroth (Caelid). Together, they are used to activate the Grand Lift of Dectus and enter the Altus Plateau.
• Haligtree Secret Medallion: The Right half is given by Albus in the Village of the Albinaurics, and the Left half is found in Castle Sol after defeating Commander Niall. Completing this item is the only way to access the Consecrated Snowfield.
• Spectral Steed Whistle: Given by Melina after visiting three Sites of Grace. This is the most important item for traversing the world on Torrent.

Shadow of the Erdtree: Realm Secrets

In the DLC, these items are required for exploring the deepest parts of the Shadow Realm:

• Ruins Maps (1st, 2nd, & 3rd): Given by Count Ymir at the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. These are the blueprints for finding the Finger Ruins of Rhia, Dheo, and Miyr.
• Iris of Occultation/Grace: Found in the Shadow Keep and Fort of Reprimand. These are the key items for completing the questlines of Fire Knight Queelign and Jolan.
• Prayer Room Key: Found on a corpse in the Belurat, Tower Settlement sewers. It opens the only path to the secret storage room containing the "Heal from Afar" incantation.

2026 Nightreign: Limveld & Shadow Access

The 2026 Nightreign update introduces a new layer of key items required for the shifting landscapes of the Limveld region.

• Locale Maps: Found in the command rooms of Forts across Limveld, they are the only way to reveal nearby "Dig Sites" and Buried Treasure on your map.
• Slate Whetstone: A specialized tool obtained by performing the Extreme Repentance gesture at the Small Jar Bazaar. It is a mandatory item to add "Night-Aspect" scaling to your weapons.
• Nightfarer’s Key: Hidden in the randomized Castle Sewers. This key is critical for opening the iron gates that lead to the Heolstor, the Nightlord boss arena.
• Spectral Reagent Bell: Found in the ruins of the Great Church during a Nightreign Storm. It is used to unlock infinite "Spectral Salts" at the Twin Maiden Husks.
